The Future of Law Has Arrived

People do business with people they like and trust. As a relationship-driven firm, we are deeply committed to building and sustaining long-term internal and external relationships, grounded in trust and transparency. We know it can take years to build a strong relationship and reputation and they can be ruined in just a few minutes. At The Law Offices of Peter J. Glantz, we continually seek to understand and align the interests of our clients and to treat each with fairness, compassion, and respect.

Clients and potential clients can size attorneys up in seconds.  When clients first meet you, they are asking themselves whether they can trust their counsel and whether they can respect this person. Psychologists refer to these dimensions as warmth and competence respectively, and ideally you want to be perceived as having both. Interestingly, most people, especially in a professional context, believe that competence is the more important factor. After all, they want to prove that they are smart and talented enough to handle your business. But in fact warmth, or trustworthiness, is the most important factor in how clients will ultimately evaluate a professional. It is more crucial to our survival to know whether a person deserves our trust. This concept makes sense considering that in cavemen days it was more important to figure out if your fellow man was going to kill you than if he was competent enough to build a good fire. While competence is highly valued, it is evaluated only after trust is established.

“We pride ourselves on providing results in a more efficient manner based upon set or pre-budgeted legal fees.”

“There are ways to achieve objectives on behalf of clients while maintaining your own likeability and integrity.”

In 2006, I was approached by a dear friend who I have known since I was a young kid.  He had mentioned that his college roommate was looking for an in-house counsel for his family-run business and thought I would be perfectly suited for the position.  I was ultimately hired as General Counsel for the company and the families other businesses and investments.

I learned many things from this family.  To be honest, I still do! Ultimately, in mid-2012, with the same loyalty that I had showed them for the six years prior, my then employer and now first client, was generous enough to support me in establishing The Law Offices of Peter J. Glantz.  I am, and will forever be eternally grateful to both my childhood friend and my first client for trusting me in both capacities.

You are a growing small business with increasingly complex legal needs but you do not have the budget or workload to retain a full time in-house counsel. An outside general counsel who serves the same function, only on an as needed and cost predictable basis might be the perfect solution. I am a versatile attorney who can be consulted on a wide array of legal issues. I can either personally handle the matter or otherwise refer it to a trusted specialist. My clients generally negotiate and draft contracts with customers, distributors or vendors, have proprietary information and trade secrets critical to their business that must be maintained as confidential by third parties. They tend to work with or develop intellectual property that requires protection. Even small companies sometimes are operating within industries requiring customized contracts that fully and properly address sensitive information in an appropriate way. These types of situations and contracts often require the expertise of an attorney to negotiate and draft so they allow the most flexibility while at the same time offer maximum protection. In addition to my legal expertise, what most often sets me apart from other attorneys is my business acumen. I have been fortunate for having had hands-on experience working previously as in-house counsel for a high net worth family office, and have benefited from learning from their own remarkable business expertise. I have also worked in private practice with a wide range of other clients in diverse industries. This has enabled me to resolve issues and challenges with other clients that are similar to those your own company may be facing. With me as your outside general counsel, you get the benefits of an attorney with years of extensive and broad legal and business experience, even if your company is in its infancy.

The Law Offices of Peter J. Glantz serves as outside general counsel to businesses of every type and size. Think of us as your own on-call legal team; we are available to you only when you need us, but when you do, we are just a quick phone call or email away. Whether at a moment’s notice or for projects planned well in advance, whether working on several matters at once or just one, The Law Offices of Peter J. Glantz has the knowledge, experience and flexibility necessary to be able to roll up our sleeves and get right to work on nearly anything for which you and your business may need.

Several matters that we have handled recently received notoriety in the news, including the sale of the single most highly valued domain name in the history of the Internet. We were also successful in vacating an arbitration award issued against a high net worth individual in favor of a notable residential real estate agency. We also made the news representing several entertainers and artists such as “Spiff TV” in a matter also involving rap artists Meek Mill, Rick Ross and Maybach Music Group as well as a well known actress involved in a partnership dispute surrounding the ownership of her gluten-free commercial bakery.

We pride ourselves on providing greater client service and performance transparency. It is no secret that the vast majority of law firms use the billable hour method to earn profits by working more hours on any given project. The great fallacy with this approach is that time does not always equal value. Given my detailed understanding and intrinsic knowledge of my clients’ respective businesses and legal needs, in certain circumstances, we are  able to provide results in a more efficient manner based upon set or pre-budgeted legal fees.
